Get up close with giant pandas, learn to cook mapo tofu from a master chef, visit the 71-meter Leshan Buddha, then settle into a bamboo chair teahouse for a bowl of盖碗茶. Spend a few days Chengdu-style. Includes premium hotels, private car, and dedicated guide.

Featuring two world-famous highlights: giant pandas and Sichuan cuisine. Start early at the Panda Base to see the pandas at their most active during feeding time. The next day, drive two hours to Leshan to see the 71-meter stone Buddha, then return for a hands-on Sichuan cooking class (mapo tofu, Kung Pao chicken) followed by a Sichuan Opera face-changing performance.

Day-by-day itinerary每日行程

  1. D1Arrival in Chengdu

Upon arrival in Chengdu, we'll arrange for a private airport pickup and transfer to your hotel for check-in and some rest. In the evening, we'll head to Jinli Ancient Street, a historic commercial street that showcases traditional Chengdu. You can sample local snacks like Sandapao (sweet rice puffs) and Dandan noodles while experiencing the lively atmosphere. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes for strolling along the stone-paved streets. Jinli Ancient Street is beautifully illuminated after 7 PM, making it the perfect time for photos and experiencing the nightlife. The drive from the hotel to Jinli takes approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

  2. D2Panda Base Day

Early morning visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The best time to see these adorable national treasures up close is between 8:00-10:00 AM when they are most active. The tour includes areas like the Panda Kindergarten and Adult Panda Villages, taking approximately 3 hours total. Return to downtown city center via the park's shuttle bus (about 30 minutes). For lunch, we recommend trying local specialties like Dandan noodles or Zhong Shuijiao (water dumplings). In the afternoon, visit Wuhou Shrine, a memorial temple dedicated to Zhuge Liang, the chancellor of the Shu Han kingdom during the Three Kingdoms period. Learn about this important historical period amidst ancient trees and exquisite architecture. Allow about 2 hours for the visit.

  3. D3Leshan Giant Buddha

Morning trip to Leshan to see the magnificent 71-meter stone Buddha statue. We recommend taking a sightseeing boat on the river to appreciate the full view of the Buddha. The best time to visit is 9-11 AM when the lighting is ideal and there are fewer crowds. For lunch, try local Leshan specialties like Qiaojiao beef or sweet water noodles. Return to Chengdu in the afternoon (approximately 2-hour drive). For dinner, we recommend authentic Sichuan cuisine such as mapo tofu and twice-cooked pork. Practical tips: Leshan Giant Buddha tickets must be booked 3 days in advance through official platforms. Wear comfortable flat shoes as there's considerable walking involved.

  4. D4Sichuan Cuisine Day

Early morning visit to a traditional local market to experience fresh ingredients and Sichuan spices, followed by a professional cooking class where you'll learn to make authentic mapo tofu and Kung Pao chicken. Enjoy your own cooking for lunch and experience the unique charm of Sichuan's spicy and numbing flavors. In the evening, head to a Sichuan Opera theater to watch traditional performances including face-changing and fire-spitting, showcasing the exquisite culture of the Ba-Shu region. For dinner, try local hot pot or串串香 (skewers) to experience the vibrant nightlife of Chengdu. We recommend booking Sichuan Opera tickets in advance and choosing front-row seats for the best viewing experience.

  5. D5Departure

Morning visit to Renmin Park's Heming Teahouse, where you can sip盖碗茶 (gaiwan tea) in a bamboo chair and watch the ear-cleaning masters at work—a true Chengdu morning experience. Pair it with a breakfast of Sandapao or brown sugar glutinous rice cakes. Afterwards, take a final stroll through Kuanzhai Alley to purchase souvenirs like panda plush toys or Shu embroidery. Later, we'll transfer you to Chengdu Shuangliu or Tianfu International Airport (40-60 minute drive) according to your flight schedule. We recommend arriving at the airport 2-3 hours in advance for check-in. Practical tips: The teahouse gets crowded on weekends, so try to arrive before 9 AM. Some old teahouses in Kuanzhai Alley offer short Sichuan Opera performances; if time permits, allow 40 minutes to watch one.

Pandas! And the food…

★★★★★

Seeing baby pandas in the nursery made my whole year. The cooking class was genuine — we went to a real market first. Chengdu is so relaxed, we extended two extra days on our own.
